人民网2006年11月17日报道，美国加州大学洛杉矶分校的一项调查显示，好莱坞制造影视娱乐作品的同时，也制造了污染——影视特效所需的爆炸、不熄引擎的汽车、搭建巨大的布景，凡此种种均会污染空气。虽然一些影视公司也有环保措施，但目前采取的措施还很不够。这项历时两年的研究显示，影视界的相关活动对洛杉矶地区造成的空气污染仅次于石油生产业，排第二位，比航空制造业、制衣业、酒店业、半导体制造业都厉害。
